Just wanted to give you a heads-up… I just posted a new article in the library on how to choose the right college once your awards letters come in.
There are a number of things to look out for. It can get a little tricky. You might need a magnifying glass, because sometimes the school that looks the cheapest can actually offer the worst aid packages when you read the small print.
Some people look at the awards letter and get all excited. “Look, the wonderful folks at Magnanimous U. are giving us $20,000!” But then upon closer inspection you find out that $17,000 is in the form of loans, not grants. So it’s actually less expensive out of pocket to attend the school that “only” offered $10,000 — but in grants, not loans.
