When You Have No Choice May 27, 2009

They say you can’t choose your relatives, right? Well, it’s the same with starting college. You can choose the where to attend but you can’t choose the when to attend. That’s because as soon as your child finishes high school, he or she is going to want to go to college, just like his or her friends.

Unfortunately, these are not the best of times to be making a $200,000 (or more) commitment. With a giant federal budget deficit and many states (including New Jersey) bleeding money, colleges are pushing up tuition and fees to levels never seen before. And who’s left holding the bag? Parents, of course.

So, how can Mom and Dad make the best of a bad situation? We just posted a new article in the Library section that answers that very question. Give it a look-see. You’ll find there are a number of tried-and-true strategies available that can help you pick up all the financial aid you need, no matter how hard the colleges try to make it for you.
