We’re Going Hollywood — Check Out New Library Article About College Movies January 25, 2010

Quick, how many movies about college or take place at college can you name? You have one minute. You must put down your pencil at the end of 60 seconds. No cheating. OK, go…

How did you do?

Here was my list:

Rudy
         The Way We Were
Chariots of Fire (I think some of it took place in college)
         Animal House
         Back to School
         Paper Chase
         Good Will Hunting

Why am I asking? Because we just posted a new article in the library about how Hollywood portrays the college experience — and whether it’s helpful or harmful to high school kids trying to pick the school that’s right for them.

Dolores Dell, who holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in filmmaking/screenwriting, wrote the article. (She comes up with a different list than I did.)

Take a peak. It’s a bit of a break from our normal fare. You’ll find it in our library under the title, Does Hollywood Give Us The Wrong Idea About the College Experience?
